ESSAY The Gay Priest Problem In November 2000, CWR published this provocative and prescient essay on the problem of clerical homosexuality. In light of the scandals that have rocked the Church in America since that time, and the emerging recognition that the root of the problem is homosexuality rather than simply pedophilia, we think the article deserves a second reading.
