Another priest killed
Rebel group charges

A Catholic priest was shot and killed by rebels in Uganda late in November, the Fides news service disclosed.

Rebels of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) shot a Sudanese Catholic priest working in northern Uganda, Father Peter Obore of the Catholic diocese of Torit (Sudan). A spokesman for the Torit diocese said that Father Obore met his death while returning home from a seminary in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.

Father Obore is the third Catholic priest to be killed along the border with Uganda. Two others—Father Saturnino Ohure and Father Leopoldo Anywar—were killed in January 1967 and November 1968 respectively. Last September, LRA rebels ambushed a Catholic Relief Services vehicle and killed five people.
