Human organs for sale

Police in southwest Africa—in Togo in particular—are battling to rid the region of the shocking traffic in human blood and organs. Nigerian immigrants from the Igbo ethnic group are suspected of being involved in this trade. This human organ traffic feeds the income of witch doctors and others involved in black magic and other pagan rituals.

In southwest Africa, the marketing of human body parts is spreading rapidly. In Ghana the grisly trend is cited in the murder of 32 people, most of them women, during the past year. In Togo police have arrested Igbo killers who systematically removed blood and organs from their victims. “We are not going to stand here with our arms folded while they kill our daughters and children,” said Messan Akuete who lives in the Be district of Togo’s capital city, Lome. “If the government does nothing to put an end to it, we will ourselves.”
