_WORLD WATCH______________________________ Nuncio’s office occupied The immigrants, referred to as sans papiers, were demanding residential status in France. The protesters included Malians, Senegalese, and Mauritanians, all from former French African colonies. One protester said they made the move on Christmas because “it is when most people show compassion, love, and understanding, and share with the poor and destitute.” The police said one of the demonstrators was slightly injured and four policemen suffered minor injuries during the scuffle to evict them from the premises.
